I’m just about sick of hearing how the gun violence in Mexico is the fault of legal gun sales in the United States. Luckily, this week the swine flu has pushed drug gangs out of the headlines, but don’t think for a minute that gun grabbers have forgotten their adgenda. Even President B.O. himself was using the “90 percent” lie during his recent meetings in Mexico.

So let’s pretend for a minute that President B.O. and his group of power-hungry liberals really wanted to stop the gun violence in Mexico and stop the flow of drugs from Mexico to the United States. How could they do that. Oh wait! Here’s an idea: CLOSE THE BORDER!
If guns really are flowing like water into Mexico, we can stop that flow immediately AND retain Second Amendment freedoms for U.S. citizens if we just CLOSE THE BORDER! Secure the length of it and only allow vehicles and people to cross at authorized checkpoints. And every vehicle and person crossing is searched.
If we just CLOSE THE BORDER, we get the bonus of stopping the flow of illegal drugs into the U.S., thus helping our law enforcement agencies and protecting our citizens.
The U.S./Mexican border is roughly 1,950 miles long. If you stretched three coils of razor wire the whole length and put a four-person observation post every 440 yards, you would require only 31,200 people to patrol the border. Of course you would need 24-hour coverage; so you run three shifts bringing the total to 93,600 soliders. Logistics and support would require another 20 percent. That’s roughly 19,000 soldiers, so the grand total is 112,600 soldiers to secure the U.S./Mexican border.
Where would we get those soldiers? Maybe we could bring our troops home from the Middle East and let the peace-loving people of Iraq work out their problems without our help. Seems nobody wants us to be there anyway and I would say a far better use of U.S. troops is the actual defense of the United States.
All we need to do now is address the naysayers, whining liberals and politicians who seem to think that if we CLOSE THE BORDER we will unfairly be taking away all sorts of opportunity for the millions of illegal aliens who look to the United States in an effort build a better life.
Well. Um. Too bad for them. Let them come to the U.S. legally. Let them pay taxes and assimilate the way all other immigrant groups did. The United States could save billions of dollars each year in social service payments and law enforcment costs if we ousted the illegal aliens.
But some people will say, “Leave them alone. They are just trying to make a better life.”
To that I say, “Someone tell me what good illegal aliens do for this country.”
If you want to have a day worker program, fine. Here’s an idea. Once we CLOSE THE BORDER, we make the day workers pass through authorized checkpoints where they pay $65, scan their hand and are allowed into the U.S. for six weeks. After six weeks, they leave, pay $65, scan their hand on the way out and are allowed to return a month later. Anyone who doesn’t leave on time is banned from entry for a year. If we estimate that 10 million people cross the border each year, that’s $1.3 billion in revenue. That money could be used to foot the bill to CLOSE THE BORDER.
So now the whiners will say, “If we search every vehicle and person that will create long lines of people waiting to cross the border.”
So what! What’s more important, stopping the flow of drugs and guns or minor inconvenience waiting at the border?
If politicians really cared about the violence in Mexico, the money spent on social services for illegal aliens and the flow of drugs into the United States, they would CLOSE THE BORDER.
But they don’t care. For some reason politicians think illegal aliens offer some sort of benefit. That’s because politicians only do things that benefit themselves. So they are using the crisis in Mexico as a means to strip our freedoms, when all they need to do is CLOSE THE BORDER.
Our Constitution is in place to “…insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty…”
The best way we can do that is to CLOSE THE BORDER!
