Handguns are a favorite category for many of us here at Gun Digest. We even went so far as to publish a book, by Massad Ayoob, devoted to the greatest handguns of the world.
Now, we’d like to know what you think. What’s your pick for the greatest handgun? Just let us know in the Comments section below, and you’ll automatically be entered in a giveaway for a copy of Massad’s book, Greatest Handguns of the World.
One lucky reader will win a copy of the book and find out if their choice made Massad’s list. We’ll announce the winner next Thursday.
If you can’t wait until next week to find out, get your copy of the book today in the Gun Digest Book Store.
Good luck!

1911. Gotta be.
Has to be the S&W Model 29 .44 Magnum
For me, I loved the feel of my 9mm. Lugar pistol.
Has to be 1911, However my carry choice is a Glock 36.
Small enough to easily conceal, but packs a .45 punch!
I have to go with the 1911. Browning was a genius for his time.
Colt 1911A1 that my father-in-law gave me.
The 1911 is my choice, hands down. While the Colt Peacemaker is a great gun, the 1911 continues to this day to be the go-to gun for defense.
My choice: Glock 22, (.40 W&W) Compensated.
S&W M29 .44 Magnum, 4″ barrel, blued finish, Magna grips.
the Smith&Wesson 44 Mag.
I vote for the Smith & Wesson Model 29, .44 Magnum !
Colt 1911A1
Glock 19 – reliable, durable, perfect size, and easy to shoot.
My vote goes to the Kimber Covert 4″
Colt 45 saa
I vote for para’s 1911 Lda with 14 round magazine
The greatest handgun is the one you have when you need it.
Walther PK380 (my conceal carry)
Without a doubt, it is the 1911.
1911
I vote for the Colt 1911.
