While I love hunting with any of my kids, my 18 yo daughter is my favorite hunting companion. I started her out with a Marlin 15YS with a nice Bushnell 3-9x40. She is smaller statured and shoots it very well. She took her first whitetail, an 8 point buck, with an inline .50, and her favorite CF rifle is a 1964 Model 94 .30-30. I just picked up a very nice 7x57 Argentine Mauser that's sporterized, she hasn't seen it yet. I would really like to see Remington chamber this rifle in .260, as it really is the perfect deer cartrige for smaller shooters. It has more range and power than the .243 and is really versatile. Keep up the good work, looking forward to reading your future articles.

Great series of articles Jennifer. I wouldn't necessarily encourage the kids to take deer at these distances, but that you like the performance from this bullet at that yardage makes this a solid recommendation for youth shooters taking their deer at closer ranges. Thanks for the input!

That’s an impressive distance for the .243. Should make it easier on the pre-teens and other smaller-statured youth that this gun is intended for. Sounds like it's balanced well.

Excellent–I’m especially glad that you found the gun doesn’t feel like it weighs as much as it does. It feels lighter than the 8.5# they say it weighs, and with a sling, it carries distances easily. I sighted it in, with Remington Core-lokt Managed Recoil loads, and found it to be very accurate at 150-200 yards. Took a large doe this season at 90 yards, and dropped her where she stood.

I recently added the 770 in .270 to the arsenal.
