This Colt Model 3000 is a 12-gauge side-by-side with a 30.06 rifle barrel sitting under the shotgun barrels. It was imported by Colt and made by the German gunmaker J.P. Sauer & Son. The shotgun barrels have full and modified chokes. The boxlock action is engraved with a buck deer on one side and an elk on the other. It has double triggers and there is a tang-mounted barrel selector to select the rifle barrel. It has a checkered walnut beaver tail forearm and walnut pistol grip stock.
Price realized: $5,750
The Rock Island Auction Co. based in Rock Island, Illinois, hosted its largest antique gun auction of the decade on April 20, 21 and 22, 2012. The auction generated $12.6 million in sales.
