YHM (Yankee Hill Machine) Model 57

Picture 6 of 6

This is YHM’s first billet carbine and another example of a company stepping out from mil-spec. Machined from 7075-T6 Aluminum, with lines reminiscent of a Sturmgewehr 44, the Model 57 is a nice looking change of pace from standard ARs. It uses a carbine length DI system, and is chambered in 5.56 NATO, 6.8 SPC II and .300 BLK. The YHM Specter Length SLR-Slant handguard provides accessory rails at twelve, three, six and nine o’clock positions, but leaves most of the grip smooth for a comfortable hold. The exclusive ball cut barrel is patterned so that even though material is removed, it retains its strength. It also features the newly designed YHM Slant Series Muzzle Brake and EZ Pull take-down pins. ($2,195; yhm.net)

DPMS is garbage. I want the LWRC and possibly the Ruger too. And it’s a GOOD thing the Ruger doesn’t come in camouflage, those camo ARs you can buy look absolutely atrocious. If you want to cammie up your AR, get a couple cans of spray paint and some vegetation, at least that way it won’t look ridiculous.
