Antique Gun Auction - Rock Island
He was right. There were so many types of firearms that any person could find something they would like to take home. There were plenty of familiar classics and some freak never-seen-before guns. Eric Tuftee, the advertising manager, said, “You’ll probably never see some of these guns again. The public won’t see these guns until they come back to the market, maybe years later. It’s really special to be able to see these guns while you’ve got the chance.”
During the course of the auction, there were over 14,000 pre-auction sealed bids, 41 phone lines taking bids, and three live internet auction companies submitting bids. The 400-seat auction hall was standing room only.
The Rock Island Auction Co. based in Rock Island, Illinois, hosted its largest antique gun auction of the decade on April 20, 21 and 22, 2012. The auction generated $12.6 million in sales.
