Winchester Model 1873 Rifle
This Winchester Model 1873 rifle in the .38 WCF caliber has a 23-inch octagon barrel. What is special about the gun is that the name “Judge Roy Bean” is inscribed in the sideplate. Roy Bean was personality in American Wild West history and is known for being a justice of the peace that held court in his west Texas saloon. He encouraged his juries to knock back drinks during court recesses. He enforced the law in a lawless area but he also had a reputation as a hustler. The rifle was made in 1885.

The Rock Island Auction Co. based in Rock Island, Illinois, hosted its largest antique gun auction of the decade on April 20, 21 and 22, 2012. The auction generated $12.6 million in sales.
